Use It or Lose It – Part II

Welcome back to Use It or Loose It – Part II

It’s my hope that Part I inspired you to do some serious thinking about how you’re wired.

Did you do your homework?

What gifts, talents and abilities have you identified in yourself, that you’re currently not using?

I really want you to fight your obstacles and do this.

For many people, one of the hardest things to do is to disconnect from the world, and get in a quiet space for an extended period of time.

It’s imperative that you get in a quiet place, with no interruptions, to do some deep reflection.

I promise you, if you do this, your spirit will begin to speak to you.

Things will come to you like running water, but you must give it a chance.

Don’t think about anything.

Don’t think about the day ahead, the outstanding bills or what you didn’t get done that day.

You’re gonna be amazed at the things that will run through your mind.

It’s also a good idea to write down your thoughts, perhaps in your notes on your smart phone or tablet.

Investing in a nice journal is also an excellent option, if you’re into writing.

So here’s the deal, and why this is so important.

There’s an alarming number of unfulfilled people, that are living life, but feeling like they have no purpose or are not operating in their purpose.

These people subconsciously complain about living mundane lives, with a routine of going to work, staring at a clock, waiting for the day to end.

They go home to take care of and spend time with their families, ending the night staring at the television until they fall asleep.

This is repetitive and what Monday through Friday looks like for many people.

Maybe you have kids that are involved in extracurricular activities and take them to practice, go to their games, and come home exhausted from the day, too tired to do anything else.

Perhaps you’re single, don’t have kids, or don’t have kids in the house any longer, and you return home so beat down with work that you often fall asleep watching a show that you really don’t like.

This is the majority of the world.

If this sounds familiar, in any shape or form, you’ve got some work to do.

You might say, “What’s wrong with going to work and spending time with my loved ones?”

“What’s wrong with me getting sleep, when I’ve worked a full day? “

Nothing is wrong with it.

Those things are priorities, but you are a priority also.

We spend so much time giving ourselves to others and that’s admirable and responsible, but what about you?

What about what you love, enjoy and are wired to do?

We get so consumed with “life” that we lose ourselves, only to look in the mirror 10 years down the line, not being able to recognize who we are.

I firmly believe that if we don’t utilize our God given gifts, talents and abilities, that we’ll absolutely lose them.

Think about that.

I think about that.

If you’re like me, and you know that you have gifts, talents and abilities that you’re not using, it bothers you.

In fact, it probably consumes you daily.

I often think, ” What if I never reached my full potential, and didn’t fulfill what I was created to do on Earth and in my life?”

I think about how disappointed I would be in myself, if I were to look up 10, 20 or 30 years from now with a “Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda” inner dialogue.

I already had that dialogue about some things I wanted for myself in life, and I vowed not to ever feel that way again.

That picture of disappointment keeps me going, working towards my goals, and fulfilling my purpose in life.

If you don’t have a reason or picture to push you in your journey, don’t be alarmed.

There are two things you can do to get started in cultivating your gifts, talents and abilities.

Confidence is the first layer of success.

If you don’t believe in yourself, your gifts, talents and abilities, you’ll never initiate your process.

(To be successful you have to act)

This emotion gives you fuel and allows you to initiate and move towards your goal/s.

Confidence allows you to exercise your faith and operated off of your belief system.

There’s a reason why people around you compliment you, when you do certain things.

There is a reason why people are in awe, when you do certain things effortlessly. You were wired to be great in that particular area, and you must exercise your right to be great.

But you must be confident.

You must believe, and that will take confidence.

Get off the sideline, cheering and rooting everyone else on.

People want to root for you.

This battle of confidence is an internal battle that takes place in your mind.

Once you battle and win this fight, you’ve taken the first step and that’s great.

But know and understand that this is a daily battle.

Work on that confidence daily and as you step out, start and initiate your greatness, it will allow you to keep moving to awaken other ideas, visions and dreams.

You are amazing and the world needs to see you.

So how do you gain this confidence?

It’s really simple.

You’ve got to do something with it.

NIKE has a slogan that’s has been out for years, JUST DO IT.

This is so simple, yet so powerful and many people probably don’t understand how significant this is to us.

It’s not about sports, this is about life and your dreams.

JUST DO IT simply means stop thinking about it, stop talking about it, stop complaining and JUST DO IT.

If you take action and fight off those internal thoughts, and get out there and exercise your abilities, you’ll begin to see your gifts. You’ll begin to understand that the negativity that has manifested mentally, doesn’t even exist.

A few years ago, my 8-year-old son didn’t know how to swim, so I enrolled him in a swimming class.

In that swimming class they started him off holding onto the side of the pool, learning the technique of kicking his feet.

They then moved to teaching the students how to hold their breath, and then how to tread water.

These are essential techniques in learning how to swim, and their purpose is for the student to gain confidence for what’s ahead.

When that confidence is acquired, the swimmer is more inclined to do more, because they believe they have the tools.

The lessons become progressive, and as they continue to practice and gain more confidence, it allows them to become advanced swimmers.

“Action is the connector to our desired reality”.

So here’s my point with the swimming analogy.

We already have the knowledge, the talent, the ability and the God given gift, so why is it that we act like a beginner swimmer that doesn’t have the advantages that we have?

The only way to stay clear from fear, doubt and that inner dialogue of COULDA, WOULDA, SHOULDA and to awaken your idea, vision or dream, is to take action.

Step away from the fear, doubt and excuses that you’ve created in your mind.

Be confident and utilize that confidence to introduce the world to your greatness.

You must get these principles or you will be in danger of losing those gifts.

What are you losing?

Your opportunity, your window or season.

I’m not sure what your gift is, but some of our gifts need youth.

For example, my window to be a professional football player came and went.

At 44, I’m not going be a professional strong safety in the NFL.

Some need us to be in a certain place in our life.

Being single without kids is probably the best time to pursue aspirations to be on the big screen.

Some need our efforts when we have less responsibilities.

Maybe you currently are without the challenge of having a big mortgage and you’re without a car note.

This may be the best opportunity for you to save to start that business or to invest in yourself.

I encourage you to seize the moment and use your gifts, talents and abilities.

You were given those gifts for a reason, and you owe it to yourself enjoy them and discover every way to share those gifts with the world.

It’s our time.
